D-backs' Jake Lamb set for shoulder surgery, likely out for season

Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Jake Lamb will undergo surgery on his left shoulder and is expected to miss the rest of the 2018 season, the team announced Thursday.

Lamb hurt the shoulder diving for a grounder last week in Chicago and was placed on the 10-day disabled list. He also missed time early in the season with a left shoulder injury.

Arizona acquired infielder Eduardo Escobar from the Minnesota Twins last week, and he has been playing third in Lamb's absence.

Lamb is hitting .222 with six home runs and 31 RBIs this season.

The Diamondbacks are tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place in the National League West.
