LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Mitch Richmond scored 13 of his 21 points in the third quarter and Washington's reserves outscored the Clippers' 61-24 Monday night as the Wizards beat Los Angeles 105-93 for their third straight victory. Juwan Howard added 18 points for the Wizards, who have beaten the Clippers five straight times in Los Angeles. Tyrone Nesby scored 20 points and Derek Anderson had 18 for the Clippers, who lost for the 36th time in 41 games. Starting point guard Lamar Odom was in street clothes because of a strained right calf, missing a game for the third time this season. After trailing by 19 points on Howard's slam dunk with 6:55 left in the third quarter, the Clippers trimmed the deficit to 70-60 with an 11-2 spurt capped by Eric Piatkowski's 16-footer, a 3-pointer by Pete Chilcutt and a layup by Nesby with 3:58 left in the period. Los Angeles got as close as 78-70 on a dunk by Charles Jones with 25 seconds left in the third, but then shot themselves out of it by missing 10 of their first 13 field goal attempts in the fourth. The Wizards put it away with a pair of free throws by Chris Whitney, a 3-pointer by Tracy Murray and a dunk by Howard in a 1:15 span, extending their lead to 101-84 with 3:16 remaining. The Wizards led this matchup of last-place teams 55-39 at halftime without any of their players scoring in double figures. Their bench outscored Clippers reserves Keith Closs, Pete Chilcutt and Jeff McInnis by a 38-2 margin. Jones didn't play in the first half. Los Angeles failed to make a basket during a 6:14 span of the second quarter, while Whitney's pair of 3-pointers helped fuel a 17-0 run that turned a three-point deficit into a 45-31 lead with 4:24 left in the half. Notes: The Clippers have had at least one player sit out because of injury or illness in 56 of their 68 games this season. It's just as well. When everyone is healthy, their record is only 1-11. The lone victory was a 102-90 decision over Vancouver at Staples Center. ... Despite squandering all of a game-opening 8-0 run, Los Angeles led 25-24 after one quarter. It was the seventh time in 10 games that the Clippers took a lead into the second period, but their record in those seven games is 1-6. ... The Wizards, who haven't won four consecutive games since the last four games of the 1997-98 season, will attempt to match that figure on Tuesday night at Sacramento in Mitch Richmond's first game at Arco Arena since leaving the Kings. ... The Wizards snapped a nine-game road losing streak against Pacific Division teams. ... The Wizards are 11-18 since Michael Jordan took over as president of basketball operations.
