DENVER (AP) _ Raef LaFrentz had 23 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots and Nick Van Exel added 22 points as the Denver Nuggets beat the Golden State Warriors 105-97 on Friday night. Larry Hughes, who burned the Nuggets for 44 points on Sunday, was held to 16 points on 7-for-28 shooting. Mookie Blaylock had 21 points and 10 rebounds for Golden State which lost its eighth straight road game. Golden State took a two-point lead into the fourth quarter, but the Warriors only scored three points in the first 4:30 of the fourth quarter and trailed 83-82. That's when Van Exel took over, hitting two 3-pointers and two free throws over the next three minutes as the Nuggets went ahead 91-86. James Posey, who had 21 points, hit a short jumper to make it 98-87 with 3:20 to go, and the Warriors were never closer than eight points the rest of the way. The Warriors led by as many as 15 points in the second quarter, behind a 16-0 run with Adonal Foyle and Sam Jacobson contributing four points each. Denver ended the drought with a pair of free throws by McCloud and Van Exel followed with a 3-pointer, to cut the lead to 42-32. The Nuggets drew within 52-51 on a dunk by LaFrentz. Mookie Blaylock beat the buzzer with a 3-pointer to Golden State a four-point lead at the half. Notes: Golden State is (3-16) on the second night of back-to-back games. ... No Warrior has played in every game. ... Denver has been outscored 183-119 in the first quarter of its last six games. ... Jacobson left the game early in the second quarter after being elbowed in the face by Denver's Chris Gatling and never returned. ...
