Gugliotta, who turns 30 Sunday, reportedly collapsed after boarding the team bus in the loading bay of the Rose Garden, about 45 minutes after Friday night's game. He was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital.

Aside from his condition, hospital spokeswoman Fran Woodcock would not release further details about Gugliotta, saying only that doctors were "evaluating him."

Saturday, nursing supervisor Alice Lilly backed off an earlier statement that doctors expected to upgrade Gugliotta to fair condition, saying he remained in serious condition.

She also declined to give details, referring questions to the Suns.

"He's in a better state than when he was admitted to the hospital," Suns spokesman Scott Leightman said Saturday.

Gugliotta received a CAT scan to determine the cause of the seizure. Leightman said the Suns do not know the results of the CAT scan or when Gugliotta would be released from the hospital.

Woodcock said a trainer and other team representatives were with Gugliotta when he arrived, but that the team was not talking to reporters. The Suns play Sacramento on Saturday night in Phoenix.

Gugliotta does not have a history of seizures or any other health problems. He has started all 22 games for the Suns and is second on the team in minutes played.

He had 17 points and 14 rebounds Friday night in the Suns' 110-102 victory over the Trail Blazers and seemed fine as he answered questions in the locker room afterward.

Gugliotta, who played in the 1997 All-Star Game while with the Minnesota Timberwolves, signed with Phoenix before the lockout-shortened 1999 season.

He is averaging 14.1 points and leads the team in rebounding at 6.7. He has career averages of 16.6 points and 8.8 rebounds in eight seasons with Washington, Golden State, Minnesota and Phoenix.
