Raptors' Kyle Lowry exits Game 2 after left ankle sprain

CLEVELAND -- Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry exited Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Cavaliers after spraining his left ankle on the first possession of the second half when his teammate Norman Powell collided with him.

Lowry returned to action but exited again with 2:40 remaining in the third quarter, with the Cavs up by 24 points, to go to the locker room. He spent the fourth quarter in the locker room icing his ankle.

"It's pretty sore right now," Lowry said after the game. "Honestly, I'm pretty sore but -- it's whatever."

Powell was hurled to the floor by Cleveland center Tristan Thompson, causing the collision. Lowry was asked how close the injury came to being far more serious.

"I don't know," Lowry said. "I didn't see the replay. I know what happened. It was kind of scary. It's painful, but I'm not going to complain about it. I'm going to get treatment, and I'm going to get ready to play in Game 3."

Lowry, who finished the game with 20 points, dragged his body across the baseline until the game action stopped. The All-Star guard walked to the locker room for treatment on his own, albeit with a limp.

"It didn't look that great," said Cavs star LeBron James. "I just wanted him to get up. He's a good friend of mine, a well-respected guy in our league, and we never, no matter throughout [whatever] competition, you don't want anybody to get hurt. Throughout playoffs or period.

"So it's good to see him come back into the game. I know he wasn't able to finish the game. Probably just started his treatment early to start getting ready for Game 3. But it didn't look good at that point and time; but like I said, it was good to see him come back into the game."

The Cavs went on to win the game 125-103 to take a 2-0 series lead.
