Sixers center Joel Embiid sits Sunday with respiratory illness

Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid sat out of Sunday night's 109-89 loss to the Brooklyn Nets because of an upper respiratory illness, coach Brett Brown said.

Embiid is averaging a team-leading 22.8 points and 12.3 rebounds per game for the Sixers, who had a five-game winning streak snapped.

Center Al Horford, who missed two games with a sore left knee and left hamstring tightness, made his return to the lineup and scored 10 points on 5-of-15 shooting with 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks. Ben Simmons' 20 points led Philadelphia.

Coming up next, the Sixers have home games against the Miami Heat Wednesday, the Dallas Mavericks Friday and the Washington Wizards Saturday.
