The NBA league office is eliminating restrictions on international travel for fully vaccinated personnel, according to a memo to teams obtained by ESPN.
NBA team personnel based in the United States had been barred from traveling internationally for scouting purposes for the entirety of the 2020-21 season, starting in October of 2020.
Citing new guidelines recommended by the CDC, the NBA league office has lifted restrictions for fully vaccinated personnel, "so long as they comply with all applicable government regulations" including quarantine requirements, adherence to social distancing and NBA health and safety protocols.
NBA considers personnel to be fully vaccinated seven days after receiving the second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccination or 14 days after receiving the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
NBA team personnel may attend international games or practices that are either open to the general public, or equally accessible for all 30 teams to scout.
The 2021 NBA draft will be conducted on July 29. The league has scheduled its draft combine for June 21-27, featuring competitive 5-on-5 action "subject to public health conditions."
