Having spent parts of this season atop the polls, Stanford is one of the favorites to reach the Final Four in Indianapolis this season. The Cardinal's formula for success includes a balanced attack and excellent team defense.

Freshman Casey Jacobsen leads the team in scoring, but the key to Stanford's success starts in the middle with Mark Madsen. The 6-foot-9 senior is the team's leading rebounder -- and its heart and soul. Madsen reached the Final Four as a sophomore, and he's poised to do it again.

(A) Stanford begins by sending the posts to the blocks to screen for the wings. David Mosely (21) and Casey Jacobsen (23) pop out to the arc as Michael McDonald dribbles up the right side of the floor.
(B) The Cardinal use quick passes to reverse the floor and get the ball in the hands of leading scorer Jacobsen.

(C) Jacobsen (23) gets it inside to the Mad Dog (45) on the block and cuts through to the opposite corner.
(D) Madsen uses his size and strength inside to get to the rack and finish.
