OUTLOOK First round: Lost to Cincinnati, 64-47
UNC Wilmington relies heavily on its strong defense. The Seahawks are ranked fifth in the country in scoring defense.
Brett Blizzard is a quality freshman, a 6-foot-2 player who can score and makes shots while not being very fast. Their inside players are role players; they don't score much in the paint. The reason they beat Richmond was that Danny Dahl had a great game and hit a big three-pointer in the final two minutes.
Ramond Perine is an explosive player who can get to the basket and defend. Victor Ebong doesn't score much for the Seahawks, but he does a nice job on defense. He shut down the conference's leading scorer and best player, George Evans of George Mason, holding him to seven points.
They don't have enough size to go very deep, but because they defend well and manage to keep themselves in the game. UNC Wilmington shouldn't get past the first round. The Seahawks would have to stay close and give themselves a chance at the end. -- Quinn Buckner, ESPN
