UCLA Bruins
RECORD: 21-12 COACH: Steve Lavin | SEASON RESULTS | SEASON STATS
OUTLOOK
  • First round: Defeated Ball State, 65-57
  • Second round: Defeated Maryland, 105-70
  • Sweet 16: Lost to Iowa State, 80-56

The hottest team in the country? UCLA is right up there. The Bruins went on a six-game winning streak to close the regular season, which is about what they needed to do to make the field. But now that they're in, what should we expect?

    Get the Coach's Edge

Let the experts at Coach's Edge get you ready for the NCAA Tournament with an inside look at the UCLA playbook:
  • Play 1 | Play 2
  • JaRon Rush's return has energized this team. He's a matchup problem for nearly every small forward -- he's a great rebounding threat for his size, and can slash to the basket on the dribble or to accept an alley-oop from Earl Watson. Dan Gadzuric runs the floor like a two-guard, and Jerome Moiso has a fine array of post moves and can step away from the basket.

Watson improved his decision-making greatly during UCLA's recent run. He's been helped by Ryan Bailey in the backcourt as a second option to direct the offense. Jason Kapono plays years beyond his freshman status and is the Bruins' most dangerous offensive player.

When things didn't go UCLA's way earlier this season, the Bruins tended to pout. Offensive execution tailed off, making this an easy team to defend against. But the sharpness is back in the attack, suggesting this is more than just a group of talented players disinterested in team basketball. -- Greg Collins, ESPN.com
