LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Dylen Smith threw for 172 yards and David Winbush ran for 134 as Kansas rolled to its biggest win in 52 years, a 71-14 rout of Cal-State Northridge. The Jayhawks collected 637 yards of total offense and held the Matadors to 298 yards. It was Kansas' most decisive victory since defeating South Dakota State, 86-6, on October 11, 1947. Kansas (1-1) has won eight of its last nine home openers and 11 straight games against non-conference opponents at Memorial Stadium. Henri Garcia ran back a punt 72 yards for a touchdown and caught a 27-yard scoring pass from Smith early in the second quarter for a 24-0 lead. Winbush closed in the scoring in the first half when Smith, who completed 13-of-15 passes, hit him with a 29-yard scoring strike to open the advantage to 34-7. Marcus Brady was 17-of-34 for 180 yards and a touchdown for Cal-State Northridge (1-1), which dropped its 11th straight road opener. Jaumal Bradley led the Matadors' rushing attack with 11 carries for 109 yards. Drew Amerson had six receptions for 113 yards and one touchdown.
