WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) _ Morgan Kane ran for 211 yards and scored two touchdowns, lifting run-oriented Wake Forest over Army 34-15 in a season opener on Saturday.

Ranked last in rushing offense last season with 65 yards a game, the Demon Deacons gained 320 yards on the ground and 459 overall, scoring its four touchdowns on rushing plays. Kane averaged 6.6 yards per carry and became the seventh Wake Forest player to run for over 200 yards in a game. His longest run was a 46-yard touchdown 2:47 into the fourth quarter that put Wake Forest ahead 24-15.

The Cadets, who led the nation in rushing a year ago (293.8 a game) had 282 on the ground but scored their lone touchdown on Grady Jett's 9-yard reception with 4:52 left in the third quarter.

Army advanced inside Wake Forest's 30 five times, but scored only three field goals and one touchdown. Army's defense forced two fumbles in the second half, but the offense was unable to convert.

Kane had almost 90 yards by midway through the second quarter, including a 10-yard touchdown with 11:47 left in the half that put the Demon Deacons ahead 10-3. That score capped an eight-play drive in which Kane ran for 64 of the 66 yards.

After Army forced the Demon Deacons to punt with 35 seconds left in the half, Joe Gerena threw two completions for 40 yards, setting up Matt Parker's 48-yard field goal that put Army behind 10-9 at halftime.
