RECAP
BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) _ Texas Southern returned two interceptions for touchdowns and Ray Rubins and Waymon Steed both rushed for over 100 yards as the Tigers beat Lane College 38-15 on Saturday. The outcome was still in doubt until the third quarter, when ZeAndre Davis and Lernard Mack intercepted two straight passes from Lane's Justin Fjiledstad and returned them for scores, giving Texas Southern a 31-7 lead. The Tigers (2-1) also had plenty of highlights in their rushing game, as Rubins had 155 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries while Steed ran 10 times for 128 yards, including a 66-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Texas Southern finished with 345 yards on the ground, compared to just 59 for Division II Lane (0-3). Lane pulled within 10-7 on Kevius Clark's 14-yard touchdown pass to Michael Taylor with 9:37 remaining in the second quarter, but Markus Howell responded three minutes later with a one-yard touchdown run that gave the Tigers a 10-point halftime lead. Clark was the most effective of Lane's three quarterbacks, completing four of six passes for 82 yards. Texas Southern's Trent Zacharie was five-for-15 for just 37 yards with no interceptions.
