GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) _ Maurice Smith rushed for 142 yards to lead a dominant North Carolina A&T ground attack in a 41-24 win over Hampton on Saturday.

Hampton opened up a 6-3 lead early in the second quarter, but Smith and the rest of the Aggie runners then took over, finishing with 251 yards for the game.

Eric Framer scored on a 2-yard run with 5:37 left in the half, and Jason Battle added another touchdown two minutes later on a 26-yard burst. Darren Dawkins kicked a 42-yard field goal as time expired in the half to give the Aggies a 20-6 halftime lead.

Smith added to Hampton's woes in the third quarter, scoring on a 21-yard run to help North Carolina A&T (4-1, 2-0 MEAC) extend the lead to 27-6.

The Aggies eventually led 41-6 before Hampton (4-2, 2-1) added three meaningless touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
