KALAMAZOO, Michigan (Ticker) -- Tim Lester tossed four touchdown passes and Western Michigan received a huge effort from its defense to pound winless Ball State, 28-0, in a Mid-American Conference matchup. Lester had touchdown passes of seven yards to Corey Alston in the first quarter and four yards to Joshua Bush in the second, helping Western Michigan (6-2, 5-0 Mid-American West) open a 15-0 advantage. Lester completed 26-of-41 passes for 296 yards. The second half was much of the same as Lester found Robert Sanford with an eight-yard TD in the third and Bush from 18 yards in the final period. Bush led the Broncos with seven catches for 55 yards. With Lester directing the offense, the defense more than did its part, holding Ball State (0-7, 0-4 West) to 209 total yards. The Cardinals rushed for just 68 yards on 40 carries and the quarterback duo of Brian Conn and Clay Walters were sacked seven times. Conn completed 15-of-23 passes for 125 yards, while Walters finished 3-of-5 for 16 yards.
