NEW ORLEANS (AP) _ Gerard Arnold rushed for 142 yards on 13 carries and tied a school record with three rushing touchdowns as Memphis defeated Tulane 42-7 in Conference USA Saturday night. Arnold, who also had three rushing touchdowns in a 31-26 victory against Arkansas State on Sept. 18, scored three times as Memphis (3-5 overall, 2-1 CUSA) cruised to a 28-0 halftime lead against Tulane (3-5, 1-2). Memphis' first score was set up by a 42-yard completion from Travis Anglin to Damien Dodson at the Tulane 5. Two plays later, Arnold scored on a 3-yard run to give Memphis a 7-0 lead with 8:56 left in the first quarter. Arnold ran 51 yards for a touchdown that gave the Tigers a 14-0 lead with 2:09 left in the first quarter. Memphis drove 99 yards to its next score as Anglin passed 11 yards to Billy Kendall for a touchdown and a 21-0 lead with 8:21 left in the first half. Arnold scored his third touchdown on an 8-yard run that gave the Tigers a 28-0 lead with 3:46 left in the half. Memphis increased its lead to 35-0 on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Anglin to Dodson with 7:27 left in the third quarter. Tulane finally scored on a 15-yard pass from Patrick Ramsey to Adrian Burnette with 4:17 left in the third quarter. Jeff Sanders' 18-yard run gave the Tigers a 42-7 lead with 12:27 left in the game. Aaron Meadows rushed six yards for the final touchdown with 45 seconds left in the game.
