MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) _ Middle Tennessee State scored seven first-half touchdowns and rolled to a 70-14 victory over Tennessee-Martin on Saturday night. The Blue Raiders jumped out early, taking a 49-0 lead at halftime with five players scoring touchdowns. Quarterback Wes Counts, who only played 1 1/2 quarters, was 12-of-16 for 162 yards and a touchdown. The 70 points was tied for the second-most points in MTSU history. After recovering an onside kick on the opening kickoff, MTSU (2-7) scored just three minutes into the game on a two-yard run from Dwone Hicks. Hicks, the third-team tailback, finished with 104 yards on 18 carries and two scores. MTSU scored two defensive touchdowns, one on Charlie Walker's 60-yard interception return, the other on a 61-yarder from Kareem Bland. Rory Redmond scored on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Danny Simms late in the third quarter to get UT-Martin (1-9) on the board.
