GAME DAY PREVIEW Game time: 2:30pm ET
Nebraska at Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. -- The Bowl Championship Series ratings and the Big 12 title game are a distant second and third on Nebraska's priority list, coach Frank Solich said.

Friday's game at Colorado tops the list.

"There has not been any talk amongst our team about anything other than Colorado. I have not heard one word uttered," Solich said.

Maybe not from the No. 3 Cornhuskers (9-1 overall, 6-1 Big 12), but Nebraska fans are uttering plenty about more than the Buffaloes (6-4, 5-2). And Monday's BCS ratings aren't helping. The Huskers moved up to third, trailing No. 2 Virginia Tech by just .63 points in the standings that will decide who plays in the Sugar Bowl for the national championship.

Suddenly the talk around the state is no longer of the Huskers needing Tech to lose to Boston College on Friday. Now Nebraska fans are hoping the Huskers can vault the Hokies with convincing wins over the Buffaloes on Friday, then Texas in the Big 12 championship game Dec. 4.

Not so fast, said Solich.

Nebraska may be a lock for a bowl game, but needs to beat the Buffaloes to clinch the Big 12 North title. A Nebraska loss Saturday would put defending North-champion Kansas State back in the conference title game.

"I think our players are bright. They know that Colorado is a very good football team and we'll get their best shot," he said.

The Cornhuskers know that the best case scenario for them would be to win at Colorado, beat Texas -- the only team to beat Nebraska this year -- in the Big 12 title game and hope for a Virginia Tech loss.

There is still the possibility that they could gain ground in the BCS strength of schedule and computer ratings categories with lopsided wins, but Solich said he doesn't want to think about needing to run up the score.

"To me, a win has always been a win. And we're thankful for all the ones that we've had," Solich said. "Whether that's a few points, whether it's one point, we would be satisfied with a win against Colorado."

Nebraska has a seven-game winning streak over Colorado, but the last three have been very close. Nebraska escaped last year in Lincoln with a 16-14 win on Kris Brown's 25-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. The year before that it was 27-24 Nebraska in Boulder, and the Huskers won 17-12 in 1996.

This will be the first time Solich, in his second season as head coach, has faced the Buffaloes under coach Gary Barnett, who left Northwestern to take over the Colorado program.

The Buffaloes, who started the Barnett era by being routed by Colorado State 41-44 in the season opener, are coming off a 37-0 shutout of Baylor. The Buffaloes also gave Kansas State a scare before coming up short in a 20-14 loss Nov. 6. Colorado also hasn't lost at home this year.
