GAME DAY PREVIEW Game time: 1:00pm ET
Georgia at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- When 21st-ranked Georgia pays a visit to archrival and 16th-ranked Georgia Tech, revenge will be the theme.

Brad Chambers kicked a 35-yard field goal with two seconds left as Georgia Tech rallied for a 21-19 triumph over the Bulldogs in last season's renewal of the rivalry. Georgia had won seven straight games in the series and, in 1997, scored a touchdown with eight seconds left in a 27-21 victory over the Yellow Jackets.

Before last year's game, Georgia Tech's most recent victory in the series had been a 40-23 win in 1990, when it shared the national championship. That was its fifth win in the last 21 meetings.

Joe Hamilton, a serious Heisman Trophy candidate for most of the year before tailing off, completed 15-of-24 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown while overcoming two interceptions and adding 54 yards on 15 carries. The new star for the Denver Broncos, Olandis Gary, led the Bulldogs with 95 yards on 18 carries and Quincy Carter was 16-of-31 for 225 yards.

Despite the loss, Georgia has a 52-34-5 lead in the all-time series.

Hamilton is the national leader in passing efficiency, completing 181-of-273 passes (66.3 percent) for 2,719 yards and 25 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He is second on Georgia Tech with 636 rushing yards and six scores.

Kelly Campbell needs two catches to break Harvey Middleton's single-season Georgia Tech record of 64 catches, set in 1996, and already is the first receiver to break 1,000 yards in a single season in school history.

Carter is 187-of-325 (57.5 percent) for 2,368 yards and 15 touchdowns with only four picks, adding 237 yards and four TDs on the ground. He benefits from a rushing attack that features freshman Jasper Sanks, who has 815 yards and five scores.

As usual, the winner of this game will improve its standing in the eyes of bowl scouts while hurting the other's position, so plenty more than Peach Tree State bragging rights are on the line.

The Bulldogs will be playing the game with heavy hearts, as canine mascot UGA V, retired in favor of UGA VI earlier this season, died this week.
