WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- Katie Douglas scored 19 points and Camille Cooper added 16 Thursday night as Purdue (No. 19 ESPN/USA Today, No. 15 AP) defeated Indiana 75-62 for its eighth consecutive Big Ten triumph.
The Boilermakers (17-5, 9-3) opened a 14-2 lead and weren't seriously challenged thereafter. Cooper scored the first four points in the early run and Michelle Duhart also scored four. Duhart's second basket with 13:50 left in the first half gave Purdue a 12-point lead and Indiana got no closer than nine after that. The Hoosiers trailed 14-5 on Cassady's 3-pointer with 12:51 remaining in the first half. Purdue then scored the next six points to lead 20-5 and finished the first half with a 9-0 run to lead 40-18 at halftime. Cooper's two free throws with 2:27 remaining ignited the streak and Douglas scored the final seven. The Boilermakers also turned 12 first-half turnovers into 15 points and had a 17-0 advantage in second-chance points. Indiana hit only 5-of-24 shots in the first half (21 percent). The Boilermakers stretched the lead to 72-41 with 6:03 to go. Indiana then responded with a 21-3 run in the remaining time. Purdue held a 47-25 advantage in rebounds, with Duhart tying her season high with 13.
