IOWA CITY, Iowa (Ticker) -- Cara Consuegra scored 22 points and Lindsey Meder added 13 as Iowa surprised 25th-ranked Illinois, 80-73 in a Big Ten Conference matchup.

Consuegra was only 6-of-18 from the field but made 11-of-12 foul shots for Iowa (7-15, 4-8 Big Ten), which snapped a three-game losing streak and won for only the second time in its last eight contests.

The Hawkeyes overcame a 39-33 halftime deficit and avenged a 26-point loss at Illinois on January 7. Iowa shot 40 percent (24-of-59) from the field but made 28-of-34 free throws and forced 21 turnovers.

Tauja Catchings had 28 points on 11-of-23 shooting and 12 rebounds for Illinois (18-9, 8-5). Kylie Martin and Susan Blauser added 11 points apiece for the Fighting Illini, who have lost five of their last nine games despite shooting 50 percent (27-of-54). Illinois closed to 73-69 on Martin's 3-pointer with 2:55 remaining, but Leah Magner answered with a 3-pointer for Iowa 30 seconds later. After Catchings went 1-of-2 from the line, Consuegra made a pair to give the Hawkeyes a 78-70 cushion with 1:29 to play.
