Reserve Paige Sutton had 11 points for Nebraska (12-10, 6-5 Big 12), which ended its own three-game losing skid. The Cornhuskers swept the season series with the Jayhawks (17-6, 8-3) for the first time since the 1988-89 season. Nebraska has won four of the last five meetings between the schools.

Suzi Raymant led Kansas with 20 points and Lynn Pride scored 18. Jennifer Jackson had 14 points and Jaclyn Johnson scored 10 with 11 rebounds for the Jayhawks.

Kansas nearly rallied down the stretch.

After three free throws by Raymant cut Nebraska's lead to 70-66, the Jayhawks stripped the ball from Melody Peterson and Jackson hit a 3-pointer to bring Kansas to within a point for the fourth time in the half.

Kubik hit a pair of free throws, then Kansas tied it at 72-all on a 3-pointer by Ramant with about a minute left.

But then Went added two free throws for Nebraska and Raymant missed a 3-pointer with about 5 seconds left that would have given the Jayhawks the lead for the first time since late in the first half.

Nebraska took advantage of Kansas' cold shooting and 17 turnovers in the first half and led 31-27 at halftime. The Jayhawks opened the game by going 3-for-14 from the field as the Huskers pulled away to a 17-6 lead.

Kansas eventually found its touch as Pride led the Jayhawks on a 16-2 run late in the half to give Kansas a 27-25 lead on Brooke Reves' three-point play with 2:54 left in the half.

Nebraska closed the half with a 6-0 run, capped by Peterson's drive for a layup right before the buzzer.
