DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Krista Gingrich and the Duke Blue Devils (No. 12 ESPN/USA Today, No. 14 AP) found a way to hold off North Carolina State.

Gingrich scored 19 points as Duke beat No. 7 North Carolina State 70-64 on Thursday night.

Lauren Rice
Lauren Rice, with 12 points, was one of four Duke players scoring in double figures.
The Blue Devils held the Wolfpack to their second worst shooting of the season, 22-for-56 (39.3 percent), and converted 19 turnovers into 22 points to avenge an 80-75 overtime loss in Raleigh earlier this season.

"This was a game we really needed to feel good about ourselves," Duke coach Gail Gostenkors said. "N.C. State is a great team, a true Top 10 team. This was a great win for us.

"We had a large lead over at N.C. State and they crawled back to win that one, so we were worried the whole time tonight. Everyone stepped up for us at different times in this game."

Gingrich was 3-of-7 from 3-point range, including a 23-footer with 1:08 left that gave Duke a 66-58 lead.

"Duke did a really good job tonight of keeping the ball out of the inside," Wolfpack coach Kay Yow said. "There were other times we could have gotten the ball inside, but our timing was off. We never could get into a rhythm."

Sheanna Mosch added a career-high 16 points, and Georgia Schweitzer had 14 for Duke (21-4 overall, 10-3 ACC).

Lauren Rice scored 12 points and made four straight free throws in the final 21 seconds to ice the win. She also had 12 rebounds for the fourth double-double of her career.

Talisha Scates scored 14 points for N.C. State (20-5, 11-3), which lost its first Atlantic Coast Conference game in six outings.

Duke led 52-34 midway through the second half before the Wolfpack went on a 14-4 run.

Consecutive 3-pointers by Amelia Labrador and Amy Simpson pulled N.C. State within one at 55-54 with 4:12 to play.

Duke led 61-58 after Labrador made one of two free throws with 1:47 to play, but got some breathing room with Gingrich's last 3-pointer and went 6-for-6 at the line in the final 1:46.

N.C. State missed three shots in the final minute.

Schweitzer scored eight points in the first half, reaching the 1,000-point mark for her career on a 3-pointer with 9:39 to play.
