WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (Ticker) -- Katie Douglas scored 24 points and Camille Cooper 21 as 21st-ranked Purdue clinched the third seed in the Big Ten Conference tournament with a 73-59 triumph over Iowa. Cooper scored seven points during a 9-3 run as Purdue (19-7, 11-5 Big Ten) opened a 67-53 lead with 1:53 left and won for the 10th time in 12 games. Cooper had 15 points in the second half and Douglas added 14. The defending NCAA champions outscored the Hawkeyes, 42-30, and held them to 39 percent (11-of-28) shooting after halftime. Purdue won a tiebreaker with Illinois for the third seed by winning the head-to-head matchup. Cooper was 7-of-10 from the floor to help Purdue shoot 43 percent (22-of-51) overall. Douglas hit all 12 of her free throws as the team made 29-of-35. Cara Consuegra made 10-of-11 free throws and scored 20 points for Iowa (9-17, 6-10), which will be the seventh seed at the conference tournament. Lindsey Meder poured in 16 points and Randi Peterson 11 but the Hawkeyes fell for the fifth time in eight games.
