BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Lashinda Winters hit the game-winning shot with 8.5 seconds remaining Friday night as Stephen F. Austin upset (unranked ESPN/USA Today, No. 24 AP) Xavier 73-72 in a women's NCAA tournament East regional game.

Winters, a 5-foot-3 sophomore guard, came off the bench to score 15 points. None were bigger than her layup that bounced around the rim several times before dropping through to give 11th-seeded Stephen F. Austin (28-3) the victory.
