LUBBOCK, Texas (Ticker) -- Keitha Dickerson and Plenette Pierson each recorded double-doubles as 17th-ranked Texas Tech defeated intrastate rival Rice, 69-52.

Dickerson totaled 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Pierson added 14 and 10 for Texas Tech (2-0), which outscored the Owls, 69-44, after the opening 3:06.

Katrisa O'Neal scored 17 points and Aleah Johnson had 15 for the Lady Raiders, who won despite getting only six points from four reserves.

Kirra Jordan netted 17 points for the Owls (1-1), who scored the game's first eight points but shot only 33 percent from the field (18-of-55) and committed 26 turnovers.

Texas Tech held a 25-23 edge at the intermission and scored the first eight points of the second half. They led by at least seven points for the final 17:37.

Rice used a 10-2 run to close within 42-35 with 12:51 to play, but the Lady Raiders went on a 10-1 burst to rebuild a 14-point advantage. The Owls got within 60-52 with 2:58 left before Texas Tech scored the final nine points.
