AMES, Iowa (AP) -- Stacy Frese scored 19 points and became Iowa State's career leader in 3-pointers as the Cyclones (No. 14 ESPN/USA Today, No. 12 AP) routed Western Illinois 93-53 Saturday.

Iowa State (4-1) demoralized the Westerwinds (3-3) with runs of 22-4 and 31-6 to win its 37th straight regular-season game at home.

Desiree Francis and freshman Lindsey Wilson each scored 13 points for Iowa State and Monica Huelman, who had missed the two previous games because of a swollen right knee, scored 11. Huelman had a perfect shooting day, going 3-for-3 from the field with two 3-pointers and making all three of her free throws.

Frese, a senior in her third season at Iowa State, made 3-of-4 3-point shots to increase her total with the Cyclones to 200. She made 19 3-pointers as a freshman at Iowa.

The old Iowa State record was 198 by Tara Gunderson, who played from 1993-97.

Western Illinois, playing a ranked team for the first time since a 100-49 loss to Arkansas on Dec. 22, 1996, committed 22 turnovers and shot just 37.5 percent. Rhonda Gondringer and LaKisha Hoffman led Western Illinois with 11 points each.

The Westerwinds hit three early 3-pointers and trailed 15-13 at the 13:45 mark in the first half. Iowa State then got its transition game going and took off.

Erica Haugen and Huelman each hit a 3-pointer, Huelman scoring the first time she touched the ball in the game, and Frese had seven points as Iowa State opened a 37-17 lead.

A slight lull by the Cyclones enabled Western Illinois to cut the lead to 42-27 at halftime and it was 44-30 less than two minutes into the second half. Then the Cyclones got rolling again and all segments of their game clicked.

Frese sank two 3-pointers, scored on a drive and fed Huelman for a layup that she turned into a three-point play. Francis and Megan Taylor each made a 3-pointer, Tracy Gahan sank four free throws and when Francis scored on a fastbreak layup, Iowa State led 75-36 with 10:49 left.

Frese left the game for good a short time later and reserves played the final 6:17 for Iowa State.
