BLACKSBURG, Virginia (Ticker) -- Sarah Hicks scored 17 points and Chrystal Starling added 14 off the bench as No. 25 Virginia Tech cruised to its third straight victory by routing Duquesne, 78-42.

Virginia Tech (5-2) shot 54 percent (17-of-31) in the first half to take a 42-20 lead at the intermission. Duquesne made only 27 percent (8-of-29) of its shots in the first 20 minutes.

Overall, the Hokies made 51 percent (31-of-61) of their shots, including 5-of-11 from 3-point range. They outrebounded Duquesne, 43-27, held the advantage in points in the paint (38-20) and fast-break points (20-0) and scored 27 points off 19 turnovers.

Gina Naccarato scored 11 points and Beth Friday was the only other player in double figures for Duquesne with 10.

Duquesne (2-3) shot a dismal 30 percent (17-of-56) from outside, including 3-of-14 from beyond the arc, and made only five free throws the entire game. The Dukes suffered their third loss in four games.
