SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Ruth Riley scored 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting, Ericka Haney had 24 and Niele Ivey added 14 points as Notre Dame (No. 8 ESPN/USA Today, No. 7 AP) cruised to an 84-54 victory over previously unbeaten Michigan State on Saturday. Riley scored seven points in an early 12-4 run that gave Notre Dame a 14-8 lead and the Fighting Irish (5-2) never looked back. Ivey added 11 assists for Notre Dame (5-2), which rebounded from a 71-61 loss at Purdue. The Irish shot 53 percent (38-of-72) from the filed while holding Michigan State to just 33 percent (20-of-61). The Spartans (7-1) had only one close call in their first seven games, a 73-72 victory over Alabama on November 20. Kristen Rasmussen scored 15 points and Maxum Reese 13 for Michigan State, which trailed by as many as 34 late in the second half.
