DENTON, Texas (Ticker) -- Kelly Kamara scored 21 points and 16th-ranked Purdue broke open a tight game in the second half and handed North Texas its first loss of the season, 79-68. Holding a three-point lead with 16:19 remaining, Purdue used a 28-13 spurt to open a 67-49 advantage with under six minutes to play. The Boilermakers were not threatened thereafter. Camille Cooper added 20 points and Katie Douglas 17 for Purdue (7-1), which shot 58 percent (15-of-26) in the second half and 56 percent (30-of-54) overall. The Boilermakers won their third straight game despite committing 24 turnovers and getting outrebounded, 40-38. Jalie Mitchell scored 19 points and Rosalyn Reades grabbed 10 rebounds for North Texas (6-1), which was facing a ranked opponent for the first time this season. The Lady Eagles shot 34 percent (23-of-68).
