RUSTON, La. (AP) -- Betty Lennox energized lethargic Louisiana Tech.

Lennox had 23 points, seven assists and seven steals as No. 3 Louisiana Tech beat Akron 88-61 on Wednesday night in the championship game of the Holiday Classic.

"Thank goodness for Betty Lennox," Tech coach Leon Barmore said. "By far, she was our best player and she deserved the tournament's Most Valuable Player award. She had the most energy of any of our players."

Reserve Cheryl Ford had 18 points to help the Lady Techsters (9-1) to their 43rd victory in 44 attempts in the tournament.

"We played with them for about the first 11 minutes, but then we got away from our strategy," Akron coach Roxanne Allen said. "They took it to us and they ran away with a 20-point halftime lead."

Louisiana Tech forced 30 turnovers and had 15 steals.

Akron dropped to 3-8.

In the third-place game, Houston beat Southeastern Louisiana 70-66.
