Being the fourth best team in the Big East isn't as bad as it seems. The Eagles, making just their second NCAA Tournament appearance, are led by three solid players: senior guard Cal Bouchard (16 ppg, 48.1 percent FG, 46 percent on 3-pointers), senior Alissa Murphy (13.5 ppg) and sophomore forward Becky Gottstein, who has played just three games since returning from a stress fracture. Gottstein had been sidelined since mid-January, just 17 games into the season, but was the Big East's leading rebounder at 10.1 boards per game up until that point. In its first trip to the Big Dance, Boston College came away with a win last season. The eighth-seeded Eagles beat Ohio State before losing by 27 to Tennessee in the second round. Key stat: BC went a combined 0-4 against UConn, Rutgers and Notre Dame this season, losing by an average of 16.8 points.
