Magpies win again at Super Club tournament

Collingwood Magpies have cruised past a second New Zealand team at the Super Club netball tournament in Nelson, brushing aside the Mainland Tactix 51-38.

The Melbourne side dominated the second half after leading by four goals at halftime, nearly matching their goal count of their opening 52-33 win over Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic.

They are assured a place in the semi-finals of the eight-team competition, regardless the result of their final pool game against the winless Northern Stars on Tuesday.

Jamaican shooter Shimona Nelson against impressed with 33 of 37 shots for Collingwood but their most impressive attacker was 35-year-old Nat Medhurst.

The former Australian Test goal attack slotted 14 of 17 but impressed just as much with her court work, taking 19 centre pass receipts and making 17 assists against the Christchurch-based side.

She linked smartly with young goal shoot Nyah Allen, who was introduced for the final quarter in place of Nelson, along with rising midcourters Ella Bayliss and Maggie Lind.

"They teach me how old I am. I think I was 18 when Nyah was born so that's really depressing," Medhurst told Sky Sport NZ.

"They've got so much enthusiasm. It gives me another focus point in trying to nurture them and bring them along."

The tournament, which concludes on Friday, is being contested by Collingwood, the six teams from New Zealand's domestic competition and English club Wasps.

The unbeaten team through two rounds on the opposite side of the draw are New Zealand's Southern Steel.
