No team training for Super Netball clubs until June

Super Netball

Super Netball sides will not return to team training any sooner than May 31, despite states reducing lockdown laws over the week, the Super Netball league have informed clubs.

Despite the Federal Government and individual State Governments announcement on reduced COVID-19 restrictions, the league has determined players will continue their 12 hours of individualised club training per week.

As sporting codes across Australia look to return to play, Suncorp Super Netball CEO Chris Symington said the prospects for a 2020 season look promising, but there was still much to consider before an announcement could be made.

"With restrictions easing around the country, our hopes of being able to complete a full 2020 season are cautiously rising, but in order to maintain competitive balance within the league while the finer details of the season are agreed upon, we have advised clubs and athletes to continue solo training for the next two and a half weeks," he said.

"There are still many decisions to be made in relation to how and when the 2020 season will take place, as well as how and when all clubs will resume formal team training, and the league will be position to announce all of this prior to 31 May."

The league also reminded clubs of the quarantine measures that must take place when bringing athletes back to the club from interstate or overseas.
