Jets (6-8) at Dolphins (9-5)
Why to watch: The Jets have won three of their last five, and last week they became the first visiting team to win in Dallas this season with a 22-21 victory over the Cowboys. The Jets certainly have played better football over the last month than the Dolphins, who broke a three-game losing streak with an ugly 12-9 victory over the Chargers last week in Miami. Miami currently holds one of the AFC's three wild-card spots, but a loss here could put the Fish back on the outside looking in. Considering all the controversy in South Florida this season, it's possible this will be the final home game for coach Jimmy Johnson, legendary quarterback Dan Marino or both.
Who to watch:
Jets QB Ray Lucas is showing improvement each week and is really starting to look comfortable in the pocket. He completed 22 of 38 passes for 230 yards and two TDs without an interception in the first meeting with Miami. Jets RB Curtis Martin, who was shunned for the AFC Pro Bowl team, ranks second in the conference with 1,239 rushing yards. Marino got his first win last week in his four starts since returning from a pinched nerve in his neck. Still, the future Hall of Famer has thrown more interceptions (13) than touchdown passes (nine) this season and has completed just 55.7 percent of his passes. The big problem for the Dolphins is the running game -- more specifically the absence of a healthy featured back. Dolphins FB Stanley Pritchett was forced to carry the load last week while rookie J.J. Johnson was out with a hamstring injury. Rookie RB Autry Denson even got five carries last week -- and the kid from Notre Dame has just seven carries on the season. Johnson is questionable to return this week, and Miami could definitely use him.
Dolphins WR Tony Martin needs just 67 yards to reach 1,000 on the season. Dolphins WR Oronde Gadsden leads the team with five TD catches. Dolphins DE Rich Owens will try to add to his team-high nine sacks.

What it means: The Jets still have a chance at a .500 season, and they'd like nothing better than to ruin the Dolphins' year by sweeping the season series. | ALSO SEE
