Offensive player of the week:
Rams quarterback Kurt Warner. Threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns (0 INTs) as Mike Martz’s club humbled the Dolphins.
Defensive player of the week:
Giants defensive end Michael Strahan. Totaled three sacks in match-up with Saints’ All-Pro tackle Kyle Turley.
Special team players of the week:
Falcons kicker Jay Feely. Has been efficient in replacing Morten Andersen this season, and connected on field goals of 34 and 55 yards in Atlanta’s win at Arizona.
Number of the week:
Three. For the first time in 16 seasons as a head coach, a Marty Schottenheimer team allowed 30 or more points in 3 straight games as the 'Skins have been outscored 112-16 during their 0-3 star.
Surprise of the week:
Patriots over Colts. Not that Indianapolis lost in Foxboro, but Colts quarterback Peyton Manning threw more touchdown passes to the Pats (2) than his teammates.
Coaching move of the week:
With Drew Bledsoe out and the explosive Colts coming to town, Bill Belichick frustrated Peyton Manning once again as New England pulled off the upset.
Rising this week:
Rams. Another solid defensive effort by Lovie Smith’s defense, and running back Marshall Faulk and quarterback Kurt Warner did the rest.
Falling this week:
Redskins. Hard to fall after already being 0-2, but things are actually getting worse weekly for Marty Schottenheimer and company
Store it away:
After an inconsistent and injury-riddled 2000, Rams quarterback Kurt Warner will once again throw at least 40 touchdown passes in a season.
