Picking seven NFL breakout candidates in 2020: Why Chase Winovich of the New England Patriots could be a star

Some NFL breakouts are tougher to spot than others.

It's quite apparent that Bills quarterback Josh Allen is transcending his previous play and that rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson is bursting onto the scene this season in Minnesota. But let's zoom in on the line of scrimmage and identify a few players who are breaking out in their ability to beat or sustain blocks -- in the run game and the pass game.

To do this, we're relying largely on our win rate metrics, which analyze every player on every snap. These metrics, like pass block win rate (PBWR) or run stop win rate (RSWR), are created by ESPN using NFL Next Gen Stats player tracking data.

With that in mind, let's take a look at the players who are hitting a new level through four games. We're focusing on younger players here, with one extreme but fascinating exception:
