ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Rams announced four roster moves Saturday afternoon, including placing cornerback Cortland Finnegan on season-ending injured reserve.
Quarterback Brady Quinn joined Finnegan on injured reserve, ending their seasons with six games to play. In corresponding moves, the Rams activated rookie safety T.J. McDonald from the reserve/designated to return list and signed defensive back Quinton Pointer from the practice squad to the active roster.
Finnegan appeared to enter last week's bye healthy but showed up on the injury report this week with what the Rams called an eye injury. He had been listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.
Rams coach Jeff Fisher offered no further details on Finnegan's injury, but the cornerback's second season with the team has come to an end after playing in seven games with 27 tackles and an interception.
Quinn signed with the Rams on Oct. 23 after starting quarterback Sam Bradford suffered a season-ending knee injury. He practiced that week but has been on the injury report with what was called a hip injury since. Fisher said earlier this week Quinn injured himself lifting weights, and his injury is actually related to his lower back.
McDonald's return comes after spending the past eight weeks on the reserve list with the designated to return label. He suffered a broken leg against San Francisco on Sept. 26.
McDonald started the first four games of the season and could return to that role against the Bears after getting plenty of work there during practice this week.
Pointer spent the past nine weeks on the practice squad after serving the first two weeks on the active roster. He appeared in six games for the Rams in 2012.
