Seattle Seahawks CB Shaquill Griffin to enter concussion protocol

NFL, Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Shaquill Griffin will enter the concussion protocol, coach Pete Carroll said after Griffin was ruled out of Sunday night's 37-34 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Griffin departed in the third quarter to be evaluated for a concussion. He was replaced by Tre Flowers on the right side.

Griffin, who made the Pro Bowl as an alternate last season, suffered a concussion as a rookie in 2017. He has two interceptions this season as he plays out the final year of his rookie contract.

Flowers had an up-and-down 2019 season, which prompted the Seahawks to acquire Quinton Dunbar in an offseason trade with the Washington Football Team.

In other Seahawks injury updates, Carroll said running back Chris Carson has a mid-foot sprain, the extent of which won't be known until he undergoes an MRI.

The Seahawks were already without Carson when they lost one of his backups, Travis Homer, who suffered a knee contusion. Homer's injury is also awaiting further evaluation.

Rookie DeeJay Dallas replaced Homer at the end of Sunday night's game.
