CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Blackhawks received some extra punch from an unlikely source -- goalie Steve Passmore -- in a 5-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night. Passmore and Tampa Bay goalie Dan Cloutier duked it out at the Chicago blue line with 1:49 left in the second period. The Blackhawks were ahead 3-1 at the time, but the fight was the highlight of the night. "He invited me, I invited him," Passmore said. "It was a mutual thing. Both of us knew if was going to happen, so why not?" Tony Amonte scored his 31st and 32nd goals of the season and added an assist to lead the Blackhawks, who won for third time in four games. Earlier in the game, Chicago's Ryan Vandenbussche fought with Tampa Bay's Kyle Freadrich and the Blackhawks' Brad Brown fought with the Lightning's Gordie Dwyer. "I see Bushy has so much fun doing it," Passmore said. "I wanted to see how it is. I did enjoy it." Cloutier didn't hang around to provide his assessment. "That's Dan's style," Lightning coach Steve Ludzik said. "He gets worked up. I'm not disappointed in him. He did all right in the fight department." The goalie fight occurred after all 10 skaters on the ice were grappling at the Panthers' end of the ice. Cloutier, who had replaced starter Zac Bierk after the Blackhawks' second goal at 10:37 of the first, charged down the ice and the goalies circled around and exchanged punches. Cloutier received a minor penalty for leaving the crease, a major for fighting, a misconduct and game misconduct -- requiring his ejection from the game. Passmore received a minor for leaving the crease and a major for fighting, but stayed in the game. "I think tonight you have a classic example of our young defense really getting in trouble," Ludzik said. "We gave up too many shots tonight. It's as simple as that." Jean-Yves Leroux, Bryan McCabe and Steve Sullivan also scored for the Blackhawks and gave Chicago a 3-0 lead by 1:54 of the second. Todd Warriner connected for the Lightning. Chicago center Doug Gilmour, the subject of ongoing trade rumors, sat out because of sore ribs. He was slashed Sunday in a game at St. Louis. Chicago led 2-0 after the first period on goals by Leroux and McCabe. Leroux opened the scoring at 8:55 from the edge of the crease, McCabe made it 2-0 1:42 later on a shot from the top of the circle that squeezed through Bierk's pads. Sullivan extended the lead to 3-0 at 1:54 of the second. After circling the net, he tucked in a shot from the far post before Cloutier could move across the goalmouth. Warriner scored for Tampa Bay with 3:44 left in the period. Amonte scored at 6:47 of the third to make it 4-1 after he pounced on a Tampa Bay giveaway. Amonte added his second goal of the game with 4:47 left.
