KANATA, Ont. (AP) -- Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson is leading by example.

Ottawa's Marian Hossa, right, leaves the ice to check Boston's Shawn Bates.

Alfredsson scored two goals Thursday night to lead Ottawa to a 4-3 comeback victory over the winless Boston Bruins in the Senators' home opener.

"Everybody is confident," Alfredsson said. "When they were up 2-0, it's not the way you want to start at home," Alfredsson said. "But we came back. That shows confidence and maturity. We're not panicking. We're not trying to do too much."

Radek Bonk and Marian Hossa added a goal and an assist each for the Senators, who won their third straight.

Trailing 3-1, Alfredsson slapped Igor Kravchuk's rebound past Boston goaltender Robbie Tallas at 16:23 of the first period.

Alfredsson tied it on a power play 1:25 into the final period. Hossa got the game-winner on a power-play wraparound at 11:30.

Joe Thornton, Rob DiMaio and Dave Andreychuk scored for the Bruins, who have lost their first three games for the first time since 1965.

Boston, stung by a 4-0 loss in Toronto on Monday night, beat Ottawa goaltender Patrick Lalime on their second and third shots of the night.

Thornton scored off Rob DiMaio's rebound 14 seconds into the game. DiMaio then scored at 5:18 off Thornton's rebound when he shot the puck in front from a sharp angle.

Bonk, who has two goals and three assists, scored a power-play goal at 7:43 of the first.

"Radek has been our best player in the first three games," Alfredsson said.

"I scored 42 goals in the IHL and everybody thought I was going to do the same thing here," said Bonk, who is trying to pick up for the absence of holdout Alexei Yashin. "I'm just trying to continue my good play from last season. We all have to step up our play offensively. This team knows what it has to do to win and cover that hole."

Andreychuk tied Frank Mahovlich for 19th place on the career list with his 533rd goal. Andreychuk took a pass across the crease from Steve Heinze and got the puck past Lalime at 11:35.

"We made too many mistakes and against a good team like Ottawa, we burned ourselves," Andreychuk said.

"You can't do that against Ottawa," Boston head coach Pat Burns said. "We knew we had to come out that way on their opening night." Lalime was replaced by Ron Tugnutt after allowing three goals on seven shots. Tugnutt missed the preseason and the Senators' first two regular-season games with a strained left knee.

"It's good to get thrown in there like that. It's great to be back. It's been four or five months," Tugnutt said.

"We had a slow start but when Ron came in and made some big saves, it changed the momentum," Senators coach Jacques Martin said.
