BUFFALO -- Five-time Vezina Trophy winner Dominik Hasek of the Buffalo Sabres did not travel with the team to Boston after suffering another groin injury Friday night.

The Sabres say their star netminder will be out for weeks, rather than days as was initially thought.

Hasek had a medical exam Saturday and will have another exam early next week to further determine how serious the injury is.

He was hurt trying to make a kick save with his right skate late in the third period of a 3-2 overtime victory over Florida. He immediately sprawled face first to the ice, where he remained for several seconds.

The two-time Hart Trophy winner, who led the Sabres to the Stanley Cup Finals last season, will be re-evaluated today and will not play tonight against the Bruins.

Hasek, 33, who said this year will be his last in the NHL, missed a month last season with a groin injury that was later diagnosed as a slight hernia.

The Czech Republic native is off to a slow start this season, going 1-4-1 in nine games. He was benched last week as the Sabres stumbled to an 0-5-2 start before winning three of their last four games.
