BUFFALO -- Five-time Vezina Trophy winner Dominik Hasek of the Buffalo Sabres did not travel with the team to Boston after suffering another groin injury Friday night.
Hasek had a medical exam Saturday and will have another exam early next week to further determine how serious the injury is. He was hurt trying to make a kick save with his right skate late in the third period of a 3-2 overtime victory over Florida. He immediately sprawled face first to the ice, where he remained for several seconds. The two-time Hart Trophy winner, who led the Sabres to the Stanley Cup Finals last season, will be re-evaluated today and will not play tonight against the Bruins. Hasek, 33, who said this year will be his last in the NHL, missed a month last season with a groin injury that was later diagnosed as a slight hernia. The Czech Republic native is off to a slow start this season, going 1-4-1 in nine games. He was benched last week as the Sabres stumbled to an 0-5-2 start before winning three of their last four games.
