Five players taken in waiver draft

The New York Rangers took left wing Andreas Johansson from the
Flames, and the expansion Minnesota Wild picked two players as a
total of only five selections were made Friday in the NHL waiver
draft.
Johansson, 27, split last season between Tampa Bay and Calgary,
recording five goals and 10 assists in 40 games.
The Wild took forward Zdeno Ciger from the Predators and
enforcer Sylvain Blouin from the Canadiens. Ciger has played in
Slovakia since 1996. Blouin played in the AHL last season, with 16
goals, 18 assists and 337 penalty minutes in 70 games.
The only other players taken were center Jason Podollan, by
Tampa Bay, and winger Jeff Odgers, by Atlanta.
Podollan has played in 40 NHL games with three teams over the
last four seasons. Odgers had one goal, two assists and 162 penalty
minutes for Colorado last season.
