Josh Papali'i signs three-year extension with Canberra Raiders

NRL

Star Canberra forward Josh Papalii is set to be a Raider for life after signing a deal that could see him at the NRL club until the end of 2025.

There were rumblings that Papalii could consider moving to be closer to family in Queensland but the 28-year-old opted to extend his current deal with the Raiders.

He is already on contract until the end of 2022 but has agreed to an extension until the end of 2024 with a further option for 2025.

Coach Ricky Stuart is one of his biggest fans and said he would go all out to make Papallii a "Raider for life".

Papalii said the deal would effectively see Stuart's wish come true.

"I love this club and I love Canberra," Papalii said. "

This is my home now and my family and I are very happy to be remaining with the Raiders and in Canberra.

"I came here as a junior player, made my debut here and played my 200th NRL game here and there's no other club I want to play for."

The three-time Meninga Medallist is widely rated as the best prop in the game and has been integral to Canberra's push to the finals again this season.

Earlier this season Papalii played his 200th NRL match for the club since debuting in 2011 and has now played 215 matches.
