Days after coach Craig Bellamy confirmed his own future, superstar fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen has signed a three-year contract extension to stay with the powerhouse Melbourne club.
The 23-year-old Clive Churchill medallist was off contract at the end of next season but the new deal locks him into the Storm until the end of 2025.
It comes ahead of his 50th NRL game on Saturday night in the top-of-the-table blockbuster with Penrith at Suncorp Stadium.
"It's quite surreal to be sitting here talking about a deal that's going to keep me here for four more years, really, at a club that gave me the opportunity to play NRL," he said.
"I feel like it's owed to be able to sign on here and hopefully I have another successful four years to come."
Earlier this week Bellamy signed a five-year contract to stay with Melbourne and confirmed he will be head coach until at least the end of next year.
With the Storm chasing back-to-back premierships this season, Papenhuyzen said knowing Bellamy was staying at the club helped him make his own decision.
"He was a massive part in the decision making," he said.
"We've been talking about this extension for a little bit now.
"Craig was close but we didn't hear anything for a little while and I wasn't too sure (what he was going to do).
"I'm just happy he took his time making his decision as well. It's a lot to think about.
"He's been here a while now, and he brought it up earlier in the week, the group of people here and how dedicated the group is and all the staff and members was a big part of him re-signing and I'm very much similar.
"It's what this club is about, hard work and good people."
