Russian biathlon coach fired over sexual misconduct accusation

Olympic Sports, Biathlon

MOSCOW -- A Russian biathlon coach has been suspended after being accused of offering a 17-year-old female athlete a place on the national team in return for sexual favors.

Moscow region sports minister Roman Teryushkov said coach Sergei Tutmin offered the athlete "patronage and prospects with the national team" if she complied with his demands. Teryushkov added that Tutmin has been fired from the regional team and suspended from coaching, and that his case could be referred to prosecutors.

Teryushkov said the athlete will now be given "full support and protection" to resume her career.
