Manju Rani (48kg) lost 4-1 to second-seeded Russian Ekaterina Paltceva to clinch the silver medal at the Women's World Boxing Championships at Ulan-Ude, Russia on Saturday.

With this, she became the third Indian to win silver in the 45-48kg category at the Worlds after Mary Kom and Sarjubala Devi.

Earlier, sixth-seeded Manju -- in her maiden appearance at the Worlds -- had defeated Thailand's Chuthamat Raksat in the semi-finals, and top seed and Asian Games bronze medallist Kim Hyang Mi in the quarterfinals. Mary Kom had won gold in this category in the last edition of the World Championships, which was held in New Delhi last year.

Manju was just the third Indian to enter the final of the 45-48kg category at the World Championships after Mary Kom and Sarjubala Devi. Mary Kom has two golds and one silver in this category, while Sarjubala won silver.

India's Mary Kom (51kg), Jamuna Boro (54kg) and Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) won bronze medals at the tournament on Saturday.
