As it happened: Bhavani's historic debut, Sajan's special swim, archers' stunning fight

While there were no more medals, India produced some memorable moments on Monday, July 26 at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, highlighted by fencer Bhavani Devi, the Indian men's archery team of Atanu Das, Pravin Jadhav and Tarundeep Rai, swimmer Sajan Prakash and table tennis star Sharath Kamal. Here's a recap of the day's action. 

Results

Swimming - Sajan Prakash became just the second Indian to swim a classification A heat as he finished 4th with a timing of 1:57.22 in the Men's 200 Butterfly heat 2. He finished 24th overall. He will next compete on July 29 in the 100m butterfly 

The first was Srihari Nataraj, who swam the 100m backstroke heat 3 on Sunday.

Fencing - Bhavani Devi easily defeated Tunisia's Nadia Ben Azizi in the Table of 64, but against fourth-seeded Manon Brunet of France in the Table of 32, the Indian 29th seed lost 15-7, bringing her Tokyo Olympics campaign to an end.

Archery - The Indian men's team of Atanu Das, Pravin Jadhav and Tarundeep Rai are out after losing 0-6 to top seeds South Korea in the quarterfinals.

Table Tennis - Achanta Sharath d. Portugal's Tiago Apolonia 2-11, 11-8, 11-5, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9 to enter the third round, while Manika Batra lost 8-11, 2-11, 5-11, 7-11 to Austria's Sofia Polcanova in the third round. Sutirtha Mukherjee lost 3-11, 3-11, 5-11, 5-11 to Portugal's Yu Fu in the second round. 

Tennis - Sumit Nagal loses 2-6, 1-6 to Daniil Medvedev of ROC. 

Badminton - Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy lose 13-21, 12-21 to World No. 1 team Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo of Indonesia, extending their winless record against the Indonesians to 0-9. As this is the group stage and the Indians won their first match, they still have a chance of progressing to the knockouts.  

Sailing - Vishnu Saravanan finished 20th race 2 and 24th in race 3 (out of 10 races) in the men's one person dinghy - laser category. He is currently in 25th position overall.

Nethra Kumanan finished 15th in race 3 and 40th in race 4 (out of 10 races) in the women's one person dinghy - laser radial category. She is currently in 28th position overall. 

Skeet Shooting - Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Mairaj Ahmad Khan finished 18th and 25th, respectively on Day 2 of qualification, failing to make the final.

Boxing - Ashish Kumar suffered a first round exit in the men's middle weight category. He lost 5-0 to China's Erbieke Tuoheta.

Women's field hockey - India lost 2-0 to Germany in their second Pool A match.
