India at Tokyo 2020 on Tuesday, July 27: Manu-Saurabh, hockey men look to bounce back

Olympic Sports, Summer Olympics

Tuesday is an important day for the Indian contingent in Tokyo. Two of their strongest shooting events -- the mixed team pistol and mixed team rifle -- start the action off. A good Tuesday would go a long way in easing the disappointment of a poor (relatively speaking) Sunday and Monday. Here's what you can expect on Day 4 of the Games, Tuesday July 27.

India at Tokyo: Key dates | Athletes | Top storylines | News & features | Medal prospects

We've highlighted here every Indian athlete in action on what is a lighter day than the weekend that just went by. To simplify things further, we've divided them into 'medal events' (those that have a final, i.e. a medal-winning opportunity, on the day) and 'others' (only qualifying rounds on the day).

THE MEDAL EVENTS

SHOOTING

Mixed Team Air Pistol -- Qualification stage 1: 5.30 AM, stage 2: 6.15 AM, Bronze medal match: 7:30 AM, Gold medal match: 8.07 AM

The team of Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary are one of the favourites for the event, as much as that means during the most high-pressure competition in the world. India have another team in the event as well -- Abhishek Verma and Yashaswini Deswal, both of whom are capable of high quality shooting.

Mixed Team Air Rifle -- Qualification stage 1: 9.45 AM, stage 2: 10.30 AM, Bronze medal match: 11.45 AM, Gold medal match: 12.22 PM

Divyansh Singh Panwar and Elavenil Valarivan form a youthful team in this event, and will compete alongside the more experienced Deepak Kumar and Anjum Moudgil. Both mixed events are making their debut at these Tokyo Games. You can read more about the rules and point-scoring of this event here.
