Malaysia have won their first medal of the Tokyo Olympics at the expense of fierce rivals Indonesia, after Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik defeated Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan to win the bronze medal in the badminton men's doubles.
Having previously defeated another celebrated Indonesian pair in the form of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, it was never going to be an easy outing for Chia and Soh coming up against the 2019 world champions.
And it did initially look as though Indonesia would be claiming the bronze after they took the first game 21-17.
But Chia and Soh produced some excellent badminton to fight back and force the decider by winning the second game 21-17, before prevailing 21-14 to claim their maiden Olympic medals.
Indonesia have been guaranteed a medal in the women's doubles after Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu reached the women's doubles final, while Anthony Sinisuka Ginting is still in the running in the men's singles semi-finals.
